31 weeks

I am now nearing my 32nd week of pregnancy. Hard to believe. The time has flown. I feel so unprepared, but when I stop and think, there is really nothing more that needs to be completed to be ready.

We found out around 19 weeks that we are expecting a baby boy!! After much contemplation we finally decided on a name...Nikolas. It took us a lot longer to figure out a boy name than a girl name.

This pregnancy, up until 30weeks was GREAT!! No problems at all, I was feeling great, baby was doing amazingly! Then at 30weeks I started having contractions and made my first trip to labor and delivery. I made it 3 weeks longer than last time, which made me feel great. So I am now out of work and on medication (nifedipine) to stop the contractions and keep baby Nikolas in until at least 36 weeks...once I reach 36 weeks they won't do anything to stop labor should it start.

At my last check up, my cervix was soft, but closed. Nikolas was measuring right on target at 3lbs 7oz...that was a 1lb 6oz gain from our prior ultrasound 4 weeks before. Also, he is head down!! I am now having weekly doctors appointments, since I'm on medication to stop labor.

Guess that is all for now.

Unexpectedly Expecting #2!!!

We found out on December 20, 2008 that our then 9 month old daughter Izzie Jo was entering new territory - BIG SISTER HOOD!!! We were shocked to say the least, but very excited!! We are nervous - the babies will only be 18 months apart - and we are hoping that this pregnancy goes better than my pregnancy with Isabelle went. (For those that don't know - I was on bedrest at 27 weeks until I delivered with Isabelle, and also had pre-eclampsia.)

So far all is going well. I've already had the first ultrasound, which showed one healthy little baby bean with a beating heart!! (My mom was certain I was having twins). I have my next appointment on Monday, then another ultrasound at 12weeks.

So far I am just extremely nauseous - ALL DAY LONG - whomever came up with the name 'morning sickness' clearly didn't have it, and the name is like a cruel joke! And I've been tired - which is to be expected when chasing a now 11 month old and being newly pregnant!

Guess that is all for now. Soon we will start the belly pictures to watch the growth - I think it is going to happen faster this time around!
